About Me
Well, well, well, Brian and Tara asked me to write a blog
for the Quilted-Connections online store – what was he thinking. I have no idea what I am doing and how to
start this new venture. I am by no means a writer, so please excuse the grammar
and punctuation. I’m also not a great
picture taker either – so please excuse that too. Thanks much.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Vernita
Dailey and I am one of the Lansing gals that met Brian and Tara a few years
back. What an inspiration they both are to
me and my sewing. Quilting, or should I
say piecing a quilt is my passion. Someone said to me not too long ago, “wish I
had a passion for something like you do”.
And I told her that it was just something I love to do.
I owned a small quilt
shop here in Lansing many moons ago and met some ladies that I still keep in
close contact with. The shop had mostly
counted cross stitch and a little fabric.
I had always sewed since a little girl, but never really made anything except
the normal clothes and such. A dear
friend really got me into quilting once my first granddaughter was born. She said that Lindsey needed a quilt, and so
it goes. She is now almost 20 and my
quilting has become obsessive. I wish I
had taken a picture of all the quilts that I’ve made, but I didn’t. The joy of wrapping up in my favorite is
something to hold on to forever.
I am normally a one project gal, but that has changed a
bit. I really like the process of
picking out the pattern and fabric, organizing it all to sew and then watching
it all come together. Then I can move on to the next project. As we continue on with this venture, you will
see different ways to organize along with the progress of what I’m working on
for the shop and maybe for myself.
Both Brian and Tara have been very patient with me, because
if I like something, I can get excited. Like the one I’m working on now. I’m designing this quilt from start to finish
and loving the process. Hope you will
join in on the end result.
Talk soon,
Vernita
